Ocean Spray Joins the Viral 'Dreams' Meme and Surprises TikToker With a Cranberry Red Truck

When Nathan Apodaca’s viral TikTok first went online a little over a week ago, the audience was fascinated by the sheer joy.

In a year when the good news is hard to come by, Apodaca’s skateboarding cruise was down the street while sipping a bottle of Ocean Spray cran raspberry and singing along to the mesmerizing tune of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” which was the mood that we all longed for. It felt like an escape and the entire internet wanted in.

Of course, remakes proliferated on TikTok and became one of the purest memes of the year. Eventually the trend got into feeding notable figures like the Democratic candidate for governor of Montana, Mick Fleetwood himself (who exclusively joined TikTok to attend), and Ocean Spray President and CEO Tom Hayes.

“We’re thrilled that Nathan Apodaca has brought our superfruit into the spotlight,” said Hayes on behalf of the more than 700 cranberry farmers that make up Ocean Spray’s agricultural cooperative. “Nathan’s video was such a delight for all of us – especially in a challenging year.”

As some have noted on social media, Ocean Spray had the foresight to let the meme play organically and avoided getting into the action too early. Hayes released his remake of the viral video today, and a team from Ocean Spray surprised Apodaca with a new “Cranberry Red” pickup filled with Ocean Spray products.

“We wanted to give Nathan something that was important to him – something we knew he needed,” said Hayes. “We can’t wait to see him drive around while listening to his music.”

Apodaca said it was “pretty humble” that the brand surprised him with the truck and all that ocean spray.

“It’s been a wild ride for sure and it’s great that I’m in a good mood for everyone right now,” he told Adweek. “I mean, I love my Cranberry Raspberry Ocean Spray, so now I have a truckload that is pretty cool!”

Apodaca posted a video of the new truck on its Instagram today and recreated its original “Dreams” TikTok from its new wheel set.
