Facebook launches Instagram Reels as TikTok alternative

Facebook’s Messenger Rooms updated to attract and invite more users

Recently, India banned 59 Chinese apps like TikTok, UC Browser and CamScanner due to compliance issues and privacy concerns. TikTok influencers had built a massive follower base and closed many branded deals that added to their source of income. But the ban had left these social media influencers without a medium to reach their audiences. During the COVID-19 lockdown, the number of active users on social media platforms also increased significantly. This has led to the rise of many alternative apps like Mitron, Roposo, Chingari, Bolo Indiya and now Instagram Reels.

To gain market share and get deeper into the short-form content, Instagram has now introduced a new feature called Instagram Reels. Now you can create 15 second videos on reels and edit them with options like speed, timer, effects and audio. You can also choose to apply the AR effects in your video. The audio option allows you to play music from Instagram music library or use your original audio. You can create multiple 15 second videos at the same time and edit them separately with different options.

Instagram Reels allows the user to choose the audience they want to share their videos with. The videos created with roles will appear in the Explore section and the Roles tab of Instagram. You also have the option to share the video on your feed and story.

Follow these steps to create Instagram roles:

  1. Open the Instagram camera and choose roles.
  2. In the audio option, you can choose audio from Instagram music library or use your original audio.
  3. Edit your role using the options available like speed, timers, and effects like AR effects.
  4. Share the video in your roles, feeds or stories.

Try Instagram Reels and create impressive thumbstopper videos.
