Brie Larson Plays Nintendo Switch in Her Pajamas Just Like Us in This New Ad

It turns out that Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson is just like the rest of us. Her latest partnership with Nintendo shows that in 2020 she will do exactly the same thing as the rest of the world: play video games in her pajamas.

On location, Larson shows viewers that games like Animal Crossing can be both a distraction from reality and a platform to connect with loved ones. She gets lost in the game during a work interview, but also remembers her sister of the good old days when the two of them did their homework right after school so they could finally play together.

In an ode to the reality of quarantine, Larson shows the world how their Nintendo Switch has become part of their “me-time”.

“This year I was forced to rethink my approach to self-care, relaxation and my relationship with my Nintendo Switch,” she joked in a related ad on Instagram.

Animal Crossing has seen strong growth this year. Partnerships with brands like Ikea and Gillette reflect the advances in social justice this year and offer a real life escape in 2020. Between June and August, Nintendo’s latest take on the popular Animal Crossing franchise was its Most Popular Game at 10.6 Million copies sold and total sales of 22.4 million. It was also the most tweeted game in the first half of 2020.

As part of the campaign, Nintendo also posted an ad last week starring Nora Lum, better known as Awkwafina, who shared her love for Animal Crossing and Mario Kart. The comedian, actress and apparent gamer made her debut in the marketing world earlier this year through a takeover of Comedy Central on Zug 7, which resulted in 36 million media impressions.

The two ads work together to demonstrate the mobility of a Nintendo Switch, which has been shown to be playable from a tour bus, dressing room, or couch in the living room.
