Get five digital marketing tips that will generate results to elevate your local business.

?These ideas are impervious to change and are foundational to the overall big picture of your online presence and authority.

OPTIMIZE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PROPERTIES

 

? 1. FILL OUT AVAILABLE FIELDS

As simple as it is to do- filling out all available fields on your social media properties are very helpful to those who are reading them including Googles bots.

2. CONSISTENT NAP

Make sure that you consistently use exactly and I mean identically the correct Name, Address, Phone Number always in the same order where possible.

This is one of many signals that Google uses as an indicator for reference.

3. ELEVATOR PITCH

You meet somebody in an elevator and they ask what you do- you have 60 seconds travel time with them to tell them what it is that you do and benefit your product or service provides. Go read my profile to give you insight.

4. CALL TO ACTION (CTA)

Go read my profile and YOU will see I have added contact us now at the end of my profile.

This could be- get your free instructional series claim your free voucher, get a quote- or something similar that gets them or the social media property and to where they should be directed which as your offer quote voucher product contact form or whatever it is you need them to do.

5. URL BACKLINK

I’m using the term URL backlink which is a no-follow link. However, you’ve got to have a portfolio of Do follow and no follow backlinks.

This is done by adding your websites full address into the URL field of your social media profile.

SET UP DEDICATED LANDING PAGES

? 1. STRATEGIC LANDING PAGES

A page on your website designed to get the visitor to focus on the goal of that page.

It is intended to provide a valuable resource in exchange for their email: get a voucher | get a free | ebook | video etc. Focus your message and have one call to action for them to get your thing.

2. THANK YOU PAGE

This is where you give them what you promised. Include some testimonials & other elements of proof.

Including trust seals and social proof along with real contact details increases conversions.

3. CALL TO ACTION (CTA)  

Tell them what you would like them to do next e.g to book a free consult or make a small low barrier entry offer.

As a by-product of them taking the action, you end up with an email for building a relationship to the market.

Here is my CTA – “Turn on Instagram post notifications by clicking the three dots to the right on any of my posts to get notified of when I do a new post, also follow me on Snapchat to get extra insight into marketing your local business I don’t share on Instagram”.

4. RELEVANT OFFER

On your thank, you page you can make a relevant low barrier entry offer that is related to your core offer that you ultimately want them to move toward.

They might just grab and run or enter bogus email details to get your thing so make an offer to get a consult or small purchase. 

5. UPSELL | UPGRADE PAGE  

Once a purchase has been made you can offer a core product or service because the psychology of the buyer changes the moment they buy from you.

Make an offer while they have their card out- you can an upgrade/offer option also.

If they say no- offer downsells (A lower priced item) before sending them to another final thank you page.

FOLLOW INDUSTRY LEADERS

 

? 1. TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS

Follow those on social media doing great things with their digital marketing within your industry space.

Make sure you turn on notifications to follow them so you don’t miss their latest updates.

For Instagram click/tap on the three dots on the upper right-hand side and tap on turn on post notifications | YouTube click/tap on the bell to get notifications | Facebook Click on following and then click/tap see first.

2. SIGN UP

In order to understand what’s working sign up for their freebies. You can always unsubscribe late.

However, I would suggest unsubscribing from every other person who does not provide value to you.

3. BACK ENGINEER

The Industry leaders in your space are doing what’s working so mimic them.

For example, you could be a beautician and the authority in that space uses a landing page that offers up free seven-day holistic treatment daily video guide to follow.

The thank you page makes an offer to book a consultation for a one-time offer of 25% discount. You would utilise this strategy personalising it to your business.

4. JOIN THE CONVERSATION

Many marketing leaders have groups or forums you can. Where ever you can- join in the conversation and engage with other people who follow them as well.

Two reasons that are valuable are: There are often other experts in these groups already doing well and secondly you will learn more about your industry space and gain insight into the pains and struggles of your ideal demographic.

This will improve how you connect with them.

5. PROFILE BACKLINK

Your backlink on your profile is a no-follow link. It’s important to have a mix of both Do follow and no follow backlinks.

This is done by adding your websites full address into the URL field of your social media profile.

ANSWER ALL COMMENTS

You need to set the tone for your social media page to give people an idea of what to expect.

If somebody makes the time and effort to leave a reply even if it is negative you should respond in kind. It could also be an opportunity to turn a hater into a fan. 

2. HANDLING NEGATIVE COMMENTS 

The first thing is to remove yourself emotionally from the comment- this person doesn’t know you so it’s not really a personal attack. 

If you respond to every single comment what does that say about your business and their perception of your customer care? 

Let that sink in for a moment. ?

Whatever you do don’t get into an argumentative battle unless some logically incorrect statement about your product or service- then, by all means, sort it out.

But, don’t forget this person could turn out to be a most valuable customer.

Don’t delete comments  I think it comes across as unrealistic.

Avoid ignoring them or belittling them with hollow apologies like “I’m so sorry you feel that way”… doesn’t that just piss you off?

Instead, offer an apology. It’s not saying you’re wrong or that is right.

It’s saying “I hear what you’re saying and I/We value your comment/our customers and will make this right immediately” and then take it to private messaging.

You handled the situation professionally and reduced a long trail of negative banter back and forth by offering up a solution to the problem.

Unless you want to get up even earlier and stay up later than you currently are to learn a new career in next few years. 

Outsourcing Digital marketing for your local business to someone who already knows the landscape is not only a time-saving manoeuvre but also save you a lot of money.

Just because you want to build a house and have read a few documents on how to do it online won’t make you a great architect or builder.

You may be able to Hammer a nail or use a nail gun but the chances of a successful build are slim.

Getting a consultant on board will reduce the drag on your growth. A great digital marketing consultant will give you a bird’s eye view of what you’re doing.
